Dark Comedy Quote for Barack Obama

For the first time in my life I took the MLK holiday off and yesterday I watched the inauguration. It was the first time in a long time that the process was moving and important. Not because President Obama is an African-American but because our country needs him so much. If hope is a color then dark comedy is its opposite. Life can be about dark comedy as long as hope is there to balance the darkness that crowds out the light. If there is a piece of advice I could reach out to our new president it would be the following quote.

“I cannot give you a formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure – which is: Try to please everybody.” - Herbert Bayard Swope

My 72 year old father-in-law said we should not allow the cat to sleep on the baby because the cat will take the baby's breath away. I told my 84 year old neighbor who said that was nonsense. But, that I should keep the the cat way from the baby because the baby can swallow the cat's tail. The baby is now 35 years old. However, at times, I do put the cat on my sleeping wife.

If I put this story any place else, no one would read it. Everybody wants to read about Obama.

I would like to think Obama means hope, but I wonder. 90% of the people are interested in the economy and his first day in office he closes the Cuban base, takes a "higher road" so we don't torture terrorists, and wants to pull the troops out before even Iraq wants them to leave. Plus, the stock market fell 350 points when he was sworn in. He has not instilled confidence with the market. I know, it is day one. But I would have worked on something else rather than to encourage the terrorists. By the way, grab one of Ann Coulter's books for a good fun read about politics. OK, edit away.
